EASTHAMPTON – A 63-year-old woman died early Tuesday morning after being struck by a car while on foot on Monday afternoon, according to the Northwestern District Attorney’s office.

Denise Herzog, of Easthampton, was pronounced dead at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield where she was transported following Monday’s collision, according to a press release by the DA’s spokeswoman Mary Carey.

Herzog was struck by a westbound minivan as she crossed the crosswalk near 30 Cottage St., just west of the intersection of Maple and Adams Streets, Carey wrote in the statement.

The driver, who has not been identified, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, wrote Carey, adding that neither drugs nor alcohol, nor excessive or erratic operation, are suspected of being involved in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation by the Easthampton Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police, and the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, according to Carey.
